Donna Sarten

Donna Turtle Sarten

Sitting slightly outside of viewers’ comfort zone, Donna Turtle Sarten engages in topics ranging from anxiety to war and child abuse. Taking on themes most people choose to ignore or push to one side, at its heart, her psychological work is political and socially-motivated.

During her Master of Fine Art studies at The University of Auckland’s Elam School of Fine Arts, Sarten focused her research on Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, particularly in the context of war experience had by New Zealand soldiers and conscientious objectors.

Sarten has been the recipient of numerous awards and has exhibited widely throughout New Zealand.
