Christine Massey, formerly of Auckland now works in her studio in Paekakariki near Wellington. She studied Fine Arts at both Ilam, Christchurch University and Elam, Auckland University; and Museum Studies at Massey University. She is a founding member of the Medal Art New Zealand group and represents New Zealand for the International Art Medal Federation (F.I.D.E.M.) She has lived and travelled extensively in Europe.
Massey’s more recent works have a strong botanical aspect and feminist overtones. Her use of a permanent, commemorative medium like bronze is often at odds with the ethereal sentiment of her works.
Massey is represented by Artis Gallery.
