Friends of the Auckland Botanic Gardens
The Friends of the Auckland Botanic Gardens are people interested in finding out more about the Gardens. The annual membership allows you to enjoy quarterly newsletters, invitations to events and field trips and the opportunity to volunteer within the Gardens.
Friends volunteers work actively alongside staff to improve the Botanic Gardens.
Whether you want to volunteer once a week, once a month, or once a year, the Friends have a number of activities to choose from, such as supporting the biennial Sculpture in the Gardens exhibition, or becoming a member of the Growing Friends, Wiri Rambler drivers and guides, or assisting in the Visitor Centre and Library. New committee members are always welcome.
There is also an enthusiastic Friends Painting Group, the members of which encourages each other’s artistic talents, and show their works in the Huakaiwaka Visitor Centre Gallery.
The Friends volunteers have a diverse range of backgrounds and skills and are always happy to have new members join.
Annually the Botanic Gardens staff show their appreciation of our volunteers by providing a celebratory lunch or afternoon tea.
