Miss Tino / Jessica Collins, Te Puawaitanga, 2021, corten steel.

Miss Tino/Jess Collins is an artist and community enhancer. She holds a Bachelor of Māori Visual Arts from Toioho ki Apiti and expresses the pūrākau of her tūpuna through illustration, graphic design, painted murals and sculpture.

Miss Tino’s passion for improving Māori mental health and suicide prevention awareness, has won her many accolades and awards, including the Prime Minister's Exemplar Award at the 2019 New Zealand Youth Awards. “Ever since I can remember I have been in love with Ngā Toi Māori. As I have grown in this space I feel and see the benefits of the arts for our people. Mahi toi shares the stories of our ancestors and these pūrākau have the ability to heal and deal with our mental health crisis we have in Aotearoa.”

We are excited to exhibit Miss Tino’s first venture into public sculpture.
