Friends

The Friends of the Auckland Botanic Gardens are a registered charity with many enthusiastic members who support the Auckland Botanic Gardens on many projects. Sculpture in the Gardens is by far their biggest project where they provide direction, funding, source sponsorship and supply many volunteers from their members to assist visitors to enjoy the exhibition.

Beyond this massive role, they also fund the Friends Horticultural Reference Library (open to the public, yes you can visit!), support their volunteers, and provide mobility options for visitors and provide Gardens’ staff with travel and educational opportunities. They raise funds by growing and selling plants, giving tours on the Wiri Rambler Train and by memberships, donations and sponsorship. Basically their mission is to support the Gardens staff and attract and assist visitors. Top job!
